چکیده

The most common spectrophotometric reagents employed for the determination of titanium (IV) are hydrogen peroxide[1] and tiron[2]. However, N-benzoylN-phenylhydroxylamine[3,4] and N-phenyllaurohydroxamic acid[5] are introduced for extractive spectrophotometric determination of titanium (IV). Aroylhydraones such as pyridoxal salicyloylhydrazone[6], diphenylglyoxal bis (benzoylhydrazone)[7] and dipyridylglyoxal bis (benzolyhydrazone)[7], salicylaldehyde 2-methyl isonicotinoylhydrazone[8], 1,2cyclohexanedione bis (benzoylhydrazone)[9] are also extensively employed for the spectrophotometric determination of titanium. Sane et al[10] have developed a spectrophotometric method using 5,6-dibromogallacetophenone as a reagent. The hydrazones emD.Venkataramana Reddy*1, A.Varada Reddy2 S.G.Govt. A NOVEL AND HIGHLY SENSITIVE CATALYTIC METHOD FOR THE DETERMINATION OF ULTRA TRACE AMOUNTS OF CERIUM WITH SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC DETECTION

Cerium (IV) has a catalytic effect on the very slow redox reaction between gallocyanine and bromate in acidic media. The reaction was monitored spectrophotometrically at 525 nm by a fixed time method of 4.0 rnin from initiation of the reaction. The decrease in absorbance at 525 nm is proportional to the Ce (IV) concentration in the range of 0.005-1.000 and 1.00-10.00 pg. ml-l. The limit of ...

Spectrophotometric Simultaneous Kinetic Determination of Iodide and Iodate Using Partial Least-Squares Calibration Method in a Single Kinetic Run

A rapid, sensitive and versatile kinetic method is presented for the simultaneous spectrophotometric determination of iodide and iodate by partial least-squares regression (PLS) using original and derivate data named as absorbance and rate data. The method is based on the catalytic effect of the cited anions on the reaction rate between Ce(IV) and As(III) in 2 mol l?1 sulfuric acid medium. The ...

Catalytic Spectrophotometric Determination of Traces of Tellurium (IV)

A Simple, rapid and sensitive method has been developed for determination of trances of tellurium (VI) (0.096-1.250 mg/mL) based on its catalytic effect on the reduction reaction of toluidine blue by sulfide ion at pH 4. The reaction is monitored spectrophotometrically by measuring the decrease in absorbance of the dyestuff at 628 nm by the fixed time method. The detection...

EFFECT OF MECHANICAL ACTIVATION ON CARBOTHERMIC SYNTHESIS OF TITANIUM CARBIDE FROM ILMENITE CONCENTRATE

The synthesis of advanced materials from low cost minerals concentrates is a new field of study that has great potential applications. In this paper, the effect of milling time on the temperature of initiation and amount of carbothermic reduction of ilmenite has been investigated. The stoichiometric molar ratio (1:4) of ilmenite to graphite was mixed and mechanically activatedfor 30-70 hours at...
